SURAH QAF BRIEF COMMENTARY & BACK GROUND:

This Surah has 45 verses divided into 3 Rukus/Sections. It takes its name from verse 1. This Surah was revealed in Mecca in the early stage of Muhammad’s preaching most probably around 3rd to 5th year after his declaration of prophethood.

The main theme of the Surah is the oneness of God and the doctrine of life after death. Resurrection is the central theme of the Surah and it narrates the scene of the Last day and that how Man’s deed are getting recorded and will be put before him on the day of Judgement.  It also emphasis people to believe in Muhammad and warn them by showing the end of previous nations who denied their prophets.

There are traditions that the Prophet Muhammad used to recite this Surah in the Friday Prayer and on the Eid days. There are some other traditions that states he often recited it in the Fajr Prayer. This makes it amply clear that this was an important Surah in the sight of the Holy Prophet.

Prophet of God PBUH said: For one who recites it, God lightens for him the pains of death.
